Webhelp launched its first Jordanian site with a great opening party on July 10th 2019. We had very special guests from JIC – Jordan Investment Commision, Ministry of Telecommunications and Ministry of Labor. The new site, located in the capital Amman currently hosts 65 employees.
Let’s meet with Erdem Genç, Regional Lead for Turkey & Jordan for the Global Account we serve from these sites and in charge of Izmir (Turkey) and Amman locations. Erdem will give us a quick insider tour of this brand new Webhelp location.
Hello Erdem! Could you please tell us more about the history of this project?
We started investigating the opportunity for a new site in Jordan in 2017.We have had great sourcing tours with our clients regarding labor pool, investment incentives and the potential growth opportunities. We started recruiting in Amman in January 2019 and after 6 months of intense recruitment efforts, we launched the trainings with our first 40 advisors in the begining of June!
We are very proud to bring this project up to this level in such short time! Now we are looking forward to growing our team to 100+ until end of 2019! We still have so much to do but we have no concerns! Our great team have already showed that they can reach ambitious targets!
Why Amman? Tell us more about this town! What will happen in near future?
Amman is the capital of Jordan. It is one of the most stable cities in the Middle East with both modern and traditional sides. You can have some great Middle Eastern experience there. Downtown Amman is a must-see. Quite hilly and overlooked by the magisterial Citadel, it features spectacular Roman ruins, an international-standard museum and the hubbub of mosques, souqs and coffeehouses that are central to Jordanian life.
Our brand new site is located in the very modern Abdali district, in the center of the city. We are located next to the biggest shopping mall of Amman, Abdali Mall, and only one block away from the fabulous Abdali Boulvard! 5 minutes to downtown and only few minutes away from reknowned hotels such as The W Amman, Rotana, etc.
Jordanian people can speak 4 dialects of Arabic which was a big plus while we were making our decision. On the other hand, the Jordanian accent is one of the clearest Accent that could be understood by other Arabic speakers from different countries. Another big plus is the English proficiency of recently graduates from several Jordan Universities. Almost 75% of the newly graduates have excellent level of English which makes communicating easier for everyone!

What is special about the site?
Our new site is in a very elegant building, Edgo Attrium, in Abdali. We have worked with dedicated architecture and design companies to bring some fresh breathe to the contact center life! As our team member are 25 year old on average at the moment, we ensured to add fun elements and covered our site with artistic abstract paintings. We also placed a Game zone into our social area! The new site is deployed with ergonomic equipments and devices to create a Great Place To Work for all our employees. There are so many other things waiting for new Webhelpers to discover! I will keep the rest as surprise.
The Amman site opening is a great opportunity to talk about the transition teams. Can you tell us more about this?
We are already performing Customer Support in many other sites for this client. Opening up in Amman made it possible to offer technical support in Arabic language. But we had to make the implementation as smooth as possible and the journey to proficiency as short as possible.
That is why we brought a transition team to the Amman site, for 3 months. The team’s mission was to transfer knowledge, as they have been with this client for 1 to 3 years now. It has been a tremendous accelerator to be able to share the success and experience they brought from Latvia, Sweden and Turkey. The members of the transition team have been carefully selected through an internal recruitment process. They are very experienced and great performers. They have been working with the assignment on other sites. And they well acquainted with the client, its procedures and Webhelp’s culture.
