Webhelp announces charity partnership with Dementia UK

30th January 2020

We are delighted to announce that in 2020, Webhelp will be supporting the fabulous work of charity Dementia UK which, as usual, was nominated and chosen by our people. This year we were again overwhelmed by the sheer number of nominations and votes, which clearly illustrates the passion and commitment to fundraising shared by the whole Webhelp family.

This time, our partner is particularly special, as Dementia UK is the only national charity that cares for the entire family of someone with dementia, through specialist dementia Admiral Nurses.

There is scarcely a family in the UK that hasn’t had their lives touched by dementia, and when things get challenging or difficult, Admiral Nurses work alongside people with the condition, and their families, giving them one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions.

The poignant nomination, made by a Webhelp colleague, explained that they personally regarded the Admiral Nurses as game-changers in terms of helping both the individual with dementia and their families. Allowing them to cope more effectively and to enable the person to live independently or at home for longer.

Dementia UK are at the forefront of dementia care and the funds raised will not only subsidise the Admiral Nurses but also go towards a public telephone helpline for advice and support.

Their knowledge of the field impressive, the management team are experts in medical and social care fields and the CEO, Hilda Hayo, is a practicing Admiral Nurse who specialises in the onset of dementia in young people.

The charity are keen to welcome Webhelp on board and Reshma Vishram, Corporate Partnerships Executive at Dementia UK commented:

“We are really excited to hear that we have been chosen to be the 2020 charity of the year for Webhelp. Your support will help fund our Dementia UK Admiral Nurse Service – the most comprehensive, specialist service in the UK for people living with the struggles and complexities of dementia, both in communities like yours and through our helpline.

“Last year, we gave 60,000 families the care, advice and practical support to help them cope at the most stressful of times. Thank you to everyone at Webhelp for making this happen.”

As a people first company, the work of the charity is very close to our hearts at Webhelp, as our CEO David Turner, explains:

“Dementia UK doesn’t just support the individual, it supports the family too. This clearly means something to our colleagues who selected it to be our 2020 corporate charity partner. It’s a privilege to support the practical and progressive work the organisation does.”

We hope you will support us in raising awareness of this incredible charity, whose nurses really are a critical lifeline for so many families, helping them to live more positively with dementia in the present, and to face the challenges of tomorrow with more confidence and less fear.

This exciting new partnership follows on from the success of Webhelp UK’s support of Together for Short Lives, which resulted in over £31,000 being raised for the Children’s hospice charity in 2019.

Stay posted for regular updates throughout the year highlighting our latest fundraising endeavours, which will be led by our on-site Engagement Ambassadors, and to find out more about the valuable work of Dementia UK visit
