Columba Leadership And Webhelp SA CSR Initiative 07 to 13 April 2013

Over a 6 month evaluation process, Webhelp SA worked with the Columba Leadership team in identifying a school which the Webhelp SA’s CSR initiative would support. After a successful application Webhelp SA were delighted to nominate Fumana High School in Katlehong. The programme was attended by Webhelp SA team members, company associates as well as prospective clients and the impact this had for both the learners and participants was overwhelming.

Webhelp SA are delighted to have partnered with Columba Leadership and remain fully committed to the initiative and in particular, supporting Fumana High School over the coming years.

Here is what some of the participants had to say:

Joel Stransky – CEO Pivotal Data

“I was truly humbled by the incredible Columba Leadership experience I was so privileged to enjoy with the students from Fumana Comprehensive School. These young adults were amazing and I have no doubt that they will make an incredible contribution to their school, their community and to this wonderful Rainbow Nation! The Columba Leadership Programme, through the amazing educators, made it all happen and I too found myself looking at life with a different perspective. I was so inspired that when I got home, I sat my wife and children down and shared my experience of the day with them, and asked them too to look at life from a different perspective!”

Webhelp SA staff member

“Words cannot even begin to describe what a single day, spent with 12 inspirational learners and 3 motivated educators, was like. I think what the day meant for me the most was that we were able to build relationships with the participants, understanding their lives and circumstances a bit better. With a focus on the theme of ‘awareness’, the day was jam-packed with activities that varied from indoor to outdoor, one-on-one to group, thematic discussions to bringing out the creative side in each person.

The guidance offered by Columba’s facilitators was also fantastic as it encouraged and enabled learners to have confidence in their own opinions and abilities. Through the course of one day, it was amazing to see individuals who were so shy to begin with; grow and understand the value they add to a group. All the participants embraced the experience and were so open to share their lives; adversity faced and overcome, and hopes for the future. I think what struck me the most about the learners was their maturity and sheer determination to make a difference in their school and community. Although we participated only one day on the week-long programme, it was an incredible experience and something that I will personally remember. I am sure, however, that this is only the beginning and I have full faith that the talented learners and educators at Columba’s Leadership Academy will become key leaders at Fumana Comprehensive School.”

Rienzo Colpo – Managing Director, Beyond Coaching

“I came to the day thinking about what I could bring to the experience and the children. What they showed me is that I have everything to receive from them. I was moved by their depth of insight, their ability to see clearly their greatness, the opportunities available to them and their way above circumstance. It was an immensely uplifting experience and if these are the future leaders of our country, my hope and commitment to our future is rejuvenated.”

Dagmar Palmer – Creative Director, Titanium Room

“The Webhelp SA Columba 1400 Programme is an incredible social initiative that inspires young adults to make a positive change within their own lives and their communities, and equips them with the tools to make those changes become a reality. What is more, I admire the participants from the schools for maintaining a positive outlook despite having grown up under difficult circumstances.

As a mother of two young daughters, it found it rewarding to meet and interact with the children and to gain a deeper insight into their individual views on life and their hopes, dreams and future aspirations. It was a profoundly moving personal growth experience, and I feel greatly honoured to have been able to participate in the events of the day. I can honestly say that it was a wonderful experience that I would not have missed for the world.

Thanks again, and please be assured that you can count on our full support for the outstanding work that you are doing to develop the leadership qualities of our young people.”
