Thank you for joining the AUNT-SUE walkabout on 13th February 2008
Thank you very much for your feedback. Please click here for a summary of "map-walk" findings. A more detailed report is to follow shortly. The findings will be discussed with London Borough of Camden, local residents and others. Background The walkabout was not a city tour around pedestrian routes north of Euston Road, but an interactive survey exercise. Key aspects of the walking environment (positive as well as negative) were surveyed, i.e. Accessibility, Legibility, Personal Security, Road Safety or other relevant issues. The two selected routes were: 1) Friends House, across Euston Road to Euston bus/Underground/National Rail and entering the station concourse (more likely to be suitable for delegates with limited mobility); 2) From Euston through the streets and alleyways of Somerstown to King's Cross-St Pancras, entering Underground/concourse of St Pancras International. The exercise featured a survey technique that we have coined "Map-walk". The Map-walk is derived from the InSITU project (2005-7). The technique has a number of useful features: ·It enables you to structure your observations and pinpoint exactly where and what features you are describing, by annotating a map (colour-coded sticky-back dots and written comments with arrows); ·Your maps will be digitised so that observations by different people can be superimposed, and by visual inspection compared, in order to highlight points of onsensus/differences of opinion; ·These multi-layered group-maps will then be digitalised during the course of the afternoon and re-presented and re-discussed towards the end of the conference; ·The AUNT-SUE consortium will use the output of the final discussion to add further details, such as pictures, and inform the various stakeholders involved (e.g. TfL, LB Camden, Network Rail, TOCs, owners/managers of commercial premises and community facilities, social housing landlords) and discuss scope for action and collaboration.
