Webhelp South Africa’s CEO, Craig Gibson, is a natural innovator and solution designer, and an exceptional relationship developer. Craig is constantly looking for a more effective way to get things done for his clients, and seeks to define and drive value to aid their market differentiation and sustainable competitive advantage through the deployment of Webhelp’s value propositions.
In his 25-year career, he has been responsible for establishing Vodacom’s retail presence in South Africa, growing Ernst &Young’s JD Edwards enterprise resource planning (ERP) practice and creating demand at Dimension Data’s Customer Interactive Solutions among a range of blue chip financial institutions. Craig served as a board member on Merchants’ (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dimension Data and BPO company) board for eight years, where he initiated significant development of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) sector of the South African Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry. He was responsible for the first offshoring and sourcing investments into South Africa from companies in the UK, the USA and Australia as well as establishing public private partnerships in the Middle East.
At the annual BPeSA awards in May 2012, he was named Leader of the Year, a unique accolade for the stimulation of BPO industry growth. In October of 2012 Craig launched his own consultancy business and created a unique BPO provider in a joint venture with Adcorp, Africa’s largest human capital provider. This entity was subsequently acquired by Webhelp and Craig was appointed as the CEO of the company, which was incorporated in November of 2013. Craig has since been responsible for the profitable growth of this entity which employs 2800 young South Africans today. His vision for the business is to create a sustainable, world-class BPO business that drives competitive differentiation for its clients.
