Webhelp UK officially opened its latest customer experience centre in Derby’s Pride Park on February 14 – a Valentine’s Day start to what the company is sure will be a long-term relationship with the City
As the site’s current 160 staff enjoyed an opening day carnival atmosphere of street magicians, dancers and balloon artists, CEO David Turner confirmed his intention to grow employment in Derby well beyond the original target total of 700.
With numbers in the site due to reach 280 by the end of the month, the six-month figure of 700 is well on target as the calls handled for client Sky steadily increase week to week.
“I would like to see our staff numbers double in Derby over the next 18 months,” said Turner.
“This is a magnificent facility in a great area and, as we have quickly found out, there is a huge pool of enthusiastic, talented potential employees.
“Webhelp UK worked really well with Derby City Council and Marketing Derby to bring these first 700 Sky jobs here and with their drive and backing we intend to bring new customers to fully maximise this site.

The centre was officially opened by Kerri-Anne Millar, director of services at Sky, who was delighted both with the look of the centre and the performance and abilities of employees. As she explained:
“In many ways, the staff here are the voice of Sky. They play an important role in our future success. We are very pleased that our strengthening relationship with Webhelp UK has sparked this massive East Midlands expansion.”
The new Derby site continues Webhelp UK’s remarkable run of expansion which has seen staff numbers double in the past two years.
Their now nine-strong UK network of sites has over 4500 employees and is not only expanding partnerships with existing clients but also attracting new business.
As Turner explained: “We have a good, well-honed product here that is setting new industry benchmarks. We aim to keep ahead of the pack.”
