INTEGRATION

The AUNT-SUE project has brought together a wealth of knowledge about why people can be socially excluded by travel.

This knowledge has been brought together to inform the design of the Journey Planner with a well designed interface to enable everyone to find their best ways and make confident travel choices.

The emerging techniques are furthermore being combined to model journey environments in 2 and 3 dimensions in selected live schemes, initially station upgrades on Docklands Light Railway. VISUALISING SAFE AND INCLUSIVE TRANSPORT ENVIRONMENTS (VISIT) will help to visualise the bigger picture - to investigate how design affects the users: people of different ages, abilities, and different levels of confidence. Likewise, the smaller picture - to ensure that new facilities, like ticket machines and lifts, don’t design-out the very people who should benefit most from transport investment.
